Six weeks after surgery |

| Return to our office (out-of state patients may choose to see their orthopaedic surgeon or ankle joint specialist for cast removal, x-rays are usually taken & an air-stirrup is applied and worn for 6 weeks | |
| Patients can begin range-of-motion exercises | |
| Thereafter, the patient is encouraged to use ankle support for up to one year by wearing high-top hiking boots or the continued use of the air-cast | |
| Swelling can be expected for up to 6-12 months after surgery |
