FREDERICK F. BUECHEL, M.D., F.A.A.O.S., F.A.C.S. Dr. Buechel is a high-profiled orthopaedic surgeon, researcher and developer in the field of total joint replacement since 1974. He has gained international recognition for his developments and has collaboratively presented and published numerous scientific articles in the field of total joint reconstructive surgery. This includes more than 150 research articles and more than 100 United States and international patents in the area of joint replacement implant and instrument design. Dr. Buechel is recognized for his pioneering work in the area of mobile-bearings, which includes the development of the worlds leading mobile-bearing knee, the New Jersey LCS ® Total Knee System and the extremely successful Buechel-Pappas Total Ankle System. He is also very proud of outstanding clinical results of the Buechel-Pappas Total Hip System and the Buechel-Pappas Total Shoulder System which represent state-of-the-art interchangeable and upgradeable ceramic-coated implants for patients with high-level activity. For more than 25 years, these implant designs and surgical technique improvements have been in collaboration with Michael J. Pappas, Ph.D., an astute professor of mechanical engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology. Dr. Buechel is board certified and is a Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, as well as, the Chief of Total Joint Reconstructive and Arthritis Surgery Services at the University of Medicine and Dentistry New Jersey Medical School in Newark. He is also an Attending Surgeon at Saint Barnbas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey. Dr. Buechel is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and Past-President of the Orthopaedic Surgery and Trauma Society.
